"It was the only way" - Dr. Steven Strange
Well here we are. A decade of cinematic history has been leading to this: a movie that has been hyped up since Thanos first reared his ugly head in the post-credit stinger of The Avengers. That's right, Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters this weekend, and of course, I just had to see it opening night. So today we're talking non-spoilers, as broadly & briefly as I can, and then we'll get into the nitty-gritty of just what the F#CK did I watch?! Let's do it.
*P.S: While I will be trying to provide as much evenhanded criticism of this film as I can, I really have no objectivity here. You've been warned!* *P.P.S: I'm finishing up this review really late because, finals week guys. Whatcha gonna do?* "You should tell her." - Marcus Abbott Yes, yes, welcome back everybody! I haven't posted since my Black Panther review, primarily because I've just been so goddamn busy with classes. (Did you know being an engineering major actually takes a lot of work? Who woulda thought, right?) It's been a long hiatus for sure, but today Everyman Film Reviews is back, baby! And today we're talking about one of my Most Anticipated Films of 2018, A Quiet Place. So let's get started, but keep in mind...
"It is hard to be both a good man and a King." - T'Chaka
Welcome back, everyone! After a brief hiatus, EFR is diving headfirst into the 2018 movie year with Black Panther, the next highly-anticipated entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And lemme tell ya, this movie has everything. Action! Political drama! References to really outdated memes! But I get ahead of myself. Let's do it!
*FYI*: I started writing this review within a few days of seeing Black Panther, but then a sh!tload of extra course work & other real-life things got in the way of me actually finishing it. And now that I'm finally at the spoilers section, I can hardly remember what it was I wanted to say in the first place. So expect a few, minor SPOILERS in this shorter review. Hopefully my next post won't be as half-assed. "You'll float too!" - Georgie Denbrough Welcome back, everyone! After a long sabbatical (whatever that means), EFR is back to take a look at the horror film that's sweeping the nation this September. That's right, today we're talking about it. What is it? Well it's IT, obviously. Do you get it? Okay, no more of those jokes. Maybe. Let's do IT!
"There is no hiding from this, son. We have a job to do." - Mr. Dawson
Welcome back, everyone! Today we're talking Dunkirk, the latest film from Mr. Christopher Nolan, one of Hollywood's biggest directors working today. What works? What doesn't? Click that "Read More" button to find out!
Quick note: Instead of my typical 2-part review with spoilers in the back half, today I'm just going to discuss the film in general terms with a few minor SPOILERS. You've been warned! "We are not savages. Apes fight only to survive." - Caesar
Welcome back to Everyman Film Reviews! My part-time, non-paying hobby! Today, we're discussing War for the Planet of the Apes (a.k.a. WFTPOTA), the conclusion to the new Planet of the Apes Trilogy! "Stunning!" "Jaw-Dropping!" "Life-Changing!" These are all words that do not describe my review of this movie. Nevertheless, let's begin!
"Apes together strong!" - Caesar
Welcome back, everyone! This is L-Train of Everyman Film Reviews, & today we're looking at 2011's surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, or "ROTPOTA" for you acronym buffs. As you may have guessed, I've rewatched this film as a lead-up to War for the Planet of the Apes, to be released this July. So let's get started!
"Hi, this is Chick's Picks with Chick Hicks!" - Chick Hicks Hey everybody, we're unexpectedly back today for a very brief review of Cars 3: Tokyo Drift. Just kidding, that's not a thing. Full spoilers ahead, because honestly, I don't care. Let's do it.
"Charles, the world is not the same as it was. Mutants, they're gone now." - Logan
Okay, so today we're talking about a film that bears my name, so it has to be good, right? We'll find out, because I've got a LOT to say about this conclusion to the story of Wolverine. So let's get to it!
