About everyman film reviews
Everyman Film Reviews provides insightful, humorous, HIGH-OCTANE film reviews & analysis. As the title comes from the pop-culture term "everyman hero," EFR is an amateur review site that primarily focuses on blockbuster movies & pop culture films. Authored by the benevolent "L-Train," EFR is committed to giving you the reviews that you probably didn't ask for.
About the Author
Logan W (real name, no gimmicks) is an amateur film reviewer attending an unassuming college somewhere in the vast expanse known as the United States of America. He enjoys weight lifting, watching movies, and Halo: Reach-ing. He is an avid fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an expert on all things nuclear energy (visit atomicsmash.weebly.com for more on this), & an award-winning filmmaker. Or is he? The world will never know. You can't believe everything you read online, you know.
The Everyman Rating System
For EFR's film reviews, the standard A+ through F scale is used. That being said, it's important remember that film reviewing is entirely subjective, and it's hard to quantify how much you enjoyed a particular movie. Every EFR letter grade is weighted, meaning each film is graded on how much it lived up to its potential. Film grades are also relative to their genre, so an "A+" superhero film & an "A+" horror film aren't necessarily as good as each other. Every letter grade is my personal rating for that film, & doesn't necessarily reflect how technically proficient the film is. Movies may also be awarded "extra credit," or one particular aspect of the film that stands out above the rest. Likewise, "late work" may also be deducted for one aspect of the film that just totally sucked.
content schedule
I'd prefer not to set up a concrete schedule for new content at EFR, as life tends to interfere with rigid plans; however, a rough outline would be one post a month. If I see a new film and I have something to say about it I will write a review ASAP, but otherwise I'll post a review of an old film (possibly related to my next cinema viewing) or another editorial of some sort.
The Marvel Issue
Everyone has that one series that they adore, and for me it's Marvel's MCU. I will happily admit that I've completely, 100% bought in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I am unlikely to give any Marvel film a negative review. If you're looking for objective criticism, this isn't the site for it as far as Marvel is concerned. It would probably take a film that's nothing more than 2 hours 30 minutes of RDJ in a dark room, eating cheeseburgers as Cap recites Hamlet in the corner of the room & Lil Jon's "Get Low" plays on a nonstop loop for me to say "Yeah, that was pretty bad." But now that I've said it, I even kinda wanna see that movie. So with that in mind, let's get reviewing.
