"This all seems so Shakespearean." - A very meta commentator "Yo Adrian, I made a sequel!" Welcome back everybody, today we're looking at Creed II: Electric Boogaloo - the much-anticipated sequel to Ryan Coogler's Creed (2015), which took the Rocky franchise in a bold new direction. But does the sequel live up to the hype? Can the son of Creed defeat the son of Drago? How are the montages? All this and more will be answered on this edition of Everyman Film Reviews!

"I always get to where I'm going by walking away from where I've been." - Winnie The Pooh
Welcome back, everyone! Today we've got a review for a movie that, let's be honest, nobody expected me to care about. Ant-Man & The Wasp? Not today. Skyscraper? Get it outta here! Mission: Impossible - Fallout? Okay, maybe soon enough. But today, we're talking Christopher Robin: the live-action, family-friendly Winnie-the-Pooh film! So hit that "Read More" button to find out just how adorable this version of Pooh is. (Spoiler alert: he's pretty damn adorable . . .)
"Han . . . Solo, then." - Some Random Imperial Officer
Welcome back, everyone! So Solo: A Star Wars Story hit theaters over Memorial Day weekend to . . . mixed reception, to say the least. So today we'll be looking at Solo - the origin story that answers all the questions about a character that you may or may not have wanted to know! I hope I'm not prematurely giving away my thoughts on this movie . . . regardless, let's dive in!
"I just saw the ad. I thought it looked fun." - Peter
Welcome back, everyone! Today on Everyman Film Reviews we're talking Deadpool 2: the follow-up the wildly successful superhero comedy of 2016. Does it live up to the original? How do Deadpool's "X-Force" look? And what about the Dubstep? Find out below!
"It was the only way" - Dr. Steven Strange
Well here we are. A decade of cinematic history has been leading to this: a movie that has been hyped up since Thanos first reared his ugly head in the post-credit stinger of The Avengers. That's right, Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters this weekend, and of course, I just had to see it opening night. So today we're talking non-spoilers, as broadly & briefly as I can, and then we'll get into the nitty-gritty of just what the F#CK did I watch?! Let's do it.
*P.S: While I will be trying to provide as much evenhanded criticism of this film as I can, I really have no objectivity here. You've been warned!* *P.P.S: I'm finishing up this review really late because, finals week guys. Whatcha gonna do?* So, guess what, guys?! Instead of seeing Ready Player One this Friday night, which I've been trying to get to for a few weeks, I ended up going along to not one but TWO comedies! Good thing though, because they were both pretty enjoyable. So today I'd like to briefly discuss each of 'em: what I liked, what I didn't like, and then pit them against each other and arbitrarily decide which one is superior for no real reason! You know . . . fair, objective criticism & stuff. Let's do it!
"You should tell her." - Marcus Abbott Yes, yes, welcome back everybody! I haven't posted since my Black Panther review, primarily because I've just been so goddamn busy with classes. (Did you know being an engineering major actually takes a lot of work? Who woulda thought, right?) It's been a long hiatus for sure, but today Everyman Film Reviews is back, baby! And today we're talking about one of my Most Anticipated Films of 2018, A Quiet Place. So let's get started, but keep in mind...
"It is hard to be both a good man and a King." - T'Chaka
Welcome back, everyone! After a brief hiatus, EFR is diving headfirst into the 2018 movie year with Black Panther, the next highly-anticipated entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And lemme tell ya, this movie has everything. Action! Political drama! References to really outdated memes! But I get ahead of myself. Let's do it!
*FYI*: I started writing this review within a few days of seeing Black Panther, but then a sh!tload of extra course work & other real-life things got in the way of me actually finishing it. And now that I'm finally at the spoilers section, I can hardly remember what it was I wanted to say in the first place. So expect a few, minor SPOILERS in this shorter review. Hopefully my next post won't be as half-assed. |
